Wedding: Hannah & Andrew
Getting married in Vermont offers several unique opportunities for the adventurous couple. Among them is setting your wedding at a magnificent, turn-of-the-century horse stable. The Coach Barn is a truly awe inspiring building, as are the rest of the buildings at Shelburne Farms. Hannah & Andy got married this June at this amazing venue . We had a mild day with beautifully dramatic clouds in the sky all afternoon and into the evening. Hannah & Andy and crew were clearly having the time of their lives, despite some rain which seemed to happen only during the ceremony! It was gorgeous regardless, and Hannah & Andy were such a great couple to shoot; so relaxed & affectionate.
I was able to sneak over to the fellas’ cottage and grab some prep shots there before heading over to capture Hannah and her bridesmaids.
Great planning by Hannah & Andy allowed for this to happen, it’s not always feasible to get both the groom and the bride’s
prep images without a 2nd photographer.
The gals were stunning as we had fun shooting in the gardens around the Inn at Shelburne Farms.
The clouds persisted and gave way to pouring rain just as the ceremony was to start. Hannah & Andy’s wedding guests made short work of getting the chairs indoors for a ceremony in the barn. It was incredible to see the rain falling so heavily outside while the ceremony took place. Made for some great images too.
Lighting the ceremony was a little tricky. I had a heavily back-lit scene from inside so I had to balance with some bounced off-camera flash, triggered by radio control. When standing near the door I got this incredible soft light falling on Hannah from outside but also was able to light her bridesmaids with my flash coming from the left.
Love the moments like the one above. It’s not the kiss,… it’s the moment just before the kiss. This image will always be frozen in blissful anticipation,…Keats knows what I’m talking about
Catering was by Bon Temps Gourmet, just beautiful. Choosing where to shoot outdoors was not hard, just walk outside and look in any direction, beauty everywhere. The architecture, the scenery, the natural elements… just wow.
Hannah & Andy choose great live music for their reception. A folk band, led by Rodney Miller, with a facilitator for barn dancing (or contradancing, or whatever it’s called:)
It was so cool to see and everyone just ate it up and had a ball.
