Wedding Photography Monster Shot
For most photographers a laid back bride (and groom) is huge advantage to capturing natural and intriguing photographs on the wedding day. It usually means your subjects are ok with taking suggestions, exploring, being creative and often times; trying something different. A relaxed couple also most often equates to a fun and open minded wedding party!
At a recent wedding this fall at The Ponds in Bolton, Vermont I was with one such wedding party. After several fun wedding party photos I asked them to do one last one before heading back to the reception; ”The Monster Shot”. This is, admittedly, a bit of a fad this year but it’s still great fun and the results can be really entertaining! I asked the wedding party to run toward the camera, terrified, as if something deadly and ominous was in pursuit. They ate it up and performed brilliantly! The post-processing consists of editing together the best shot of several taken, or a composite of each member of the wedding party’s most inspired and frightened look. Then an image of a monster is superimposed behind the wedding party. In this case the bride choose everyone’s favorite 1980′s monster; The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Here’s the final image:
It’s some extra work in front of Photoshop but it’s really fun! Check out some other great monster shots here.
